December 1st - Applications being accepted for MRU!

A reminder to all prospective students for the women's soccer program and class of 2012!

December 1st is the first day you can apply to the University and apply for academic scholarship awards - see the MRU website (www.mtroyal.ca) for information on how to register and apply for these awards.

The deadline for academic scholarships is March 1st, 2012.  Don't wait.

The programs do fill up fast at MRU so I would encourage all to apply as early as possible.  You don't want to be watching from the stands come fall 2012.

MRU Sport Information Night

Wednesday, the Mount Royal University in partnership with the Alberta Sport Development Centre of Calgary held a " Sport After High School" Information session for all who may be interested in what MRU has to offer as they transition to the Canada West and CIS for 2012.

I can happily say that women's soccer was unanimously the favourite for the evening as the session was forced to standing room only when divided into the breakout sessions.   It was exciting to see all who were able to make the session and for those who were not I have attached a mini-version of the presentation whereby if you have have any questions you can always contact me to find out more about the programs offered at MRU as well as the women's soccer program.

Thanks again for supporting MRU soccer and we hope to see you wearing the cougar blue in the future.

MRU Players get opportunity to train with Canadian Pool of Selected Players

Thursday was an opportunity for select players within the MRU squad to attend the NTC (National Training Centre Calgary) and participate with the National Team development pool of players.  The sessions involved the MRU players being divided into multiple teams of  three where they were put through a vigorous session of attacking and defending in small sided games.    The MRU head coach was on site to observe the session and players developments.

The team has currently completed it's fall session of training as the girls will now be preparing for final exams in December.  All the best ladies with the studies.

The team will resume training in January as it prepares for it's last season in ACAC Futsal.

Post-Season Fitness Testing

On Sunday, the team underwent some fitness testing early this morning.  It was well organized and ran smoothly.   The players will be receiving the results shortly of where they rank within the player sample and what needs some improvement for 2012 as we will look to use the coming months to get ready for the first season of Canada West competition.
