Notice to New Prospects and Returning Players:
Remember when selecting courses for the 2011-12 season; you must be a FULL-TIME student at MRU to participate on the soccer team. This is typically a minimum of 3 class (equivalent to 18 credit units).
Note: upgrading courses do not count towards this.
It is recommended that Student-athletes take 4 courses per semester or more should they be able to handle the course load.
If you have any questions regarding this, please contact me to discuss.
As well to returning players, please contact me via telephone between your study breaks to discuss the past season and preparation for camp in the fall.

Cougars Head Coach gets honour of coaching in CMSA All-Star Game
This past weekend, Coach Fusco was invited to coach one of the U18 Female CMSA All-star teams. This gave coach Fusco an opportunity to see some of the local club nominated players play in a mini-game held over the lunch hour of the symposium. Coach Fusco volunteered his time to get out and promote the Mount Royal University Program. Go Cougars!

Women's Soccer: Signs Another Local Top Recruit
After finishing 2010 with a perfect 10-0 season, the
Mount Royal University Women's Soccer signs another top recruit for the 2011 class. "This year has been one of our better years of prospects. As our program improves and becomes more comprehensive, we continually are looking to gain the best players to our program." I am a believer that you don't have to leave the city to play a high level of female soccer. We can compete with the larger schools. -- Coach Fusco.
We are very happy to have Kelsey Kinzner commit to the women's program. After some stressful decisions of what school to attend - we are delighted to have Kelsey choose MRU as her school of choice.
Kelsey is strong academically and these are the type of student athletes we are looking to bring into our program.
Along with her academics, Kelsey plays in the top youth tier in Calgary. She will be finishing her U18 eligibility with the Calgary Foothills Soccer Club; a four-time National Championship program as she prepares for the fall preseason with MRU.
Kelsey will look to earn a major role in the attacking play of the Cougars attack. "Kelsey is a smart player, she has the ability to play with both feet and a good understanding of the game." --- Coach Fusco.
Kelsey, a former recruit of the Calgary National Training Centre and Alberta Provincial Program, will definitely be able to come into our program and make an impact in the classroom and the pitch.

MRU ID CAMP
This past Sunday was an opportunity created for all the new prospect players who contacted the head coach and were interested in playing for the Women's soccer program this coming fall. I thank all who attended this event. We will be looking to create a much more comprehensive ID camp in the future but this was a start. During this event, the coaching staff were able to observe some players whom they had never seen play before as well as some of the top recruits to the program for 2011 and this can only benefit the prospects going into pre-season camp in the fall.
During the summer months, the coach will be in contact with the squad to help prepare them for the pre-season start. You can find a tentative training schedule in the calendar section of this blog. Thanks again to prospects; in the meantime, the coaching staff will be looking to finalize the year end meetings with the current players as we move into a new season.
